Job Summary:The ideal candidate will have prior client-facing hospitality experience in an upscale restaurant, with a strong ability to provide exceptional customer service and work well under pressure. The Server will be responsible for greeting and seating guests, taking orders, and serving food and beverages in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Acknowledge and welcome all guests, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere
- Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation, ensuring servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
- Move and arrange tables, chairs, and place settings as required, and organize seating for groups with special needs
- Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety, and well-being of guests
- Answer telephone clearly using appropriate etiquette, coordinate and record guest reservations, and respond to inquiries
- Deliver patrons' cigar orders to table
- Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns and requests of guests and coworkers
- Prior client-facing hospitality experience in an upscale restaurant is preferred
- Working knowledge of restaurant operations
- Ability to operate computer equipment and the reservations system
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage stress while maintaining a welcoming and friendly yet professionally appropriate demeanor
- Positive 'can do' attitude, team player orientation, and commitment to superb customer service
- Neat, well-groomed appearance and outgoing personality
- Ability to stand and walk for duration of the shift
- Ability to work in a smoking environment
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to work weekends
The Server will work in a fast-paced, upscale restaurant environment with a focus on providing exceptional customer service. The noise level in the work environment may be loud at times, and the Server will be exposed to tobacco smoke.
Physical Demands:The Server will be required to walk and stand for the duration of the shift, lift and carry up to 35 pounds, and manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to serve, carry, pour, and wipe. The Server will also be required to hear and talk, and have good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:The Server may be required to work days, nights, and/or weekend work, with occasional overtime hours. Candidates must be legally authorized to work for any U.S. employer on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
Desired Education and Experience:A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with prior experience as a host/hostess in an upscale restaurant preferred.
