Budget Analyst Job Description

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is seeking a skilled Budget Analyst to join their team. As a key member of the Government Operations Services (GOS) team, you will be responsible for formulating, justifying, monitoring, and developing process improvement strategies for budgets within assigned agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Validate budget requests and perform special analysis of specific budgetary programs and projects.
  • Provide recommendations and accurate budget projections, coordinating with program managers and financial personnel to obtain necessary information.
  • Ensure budgets are expended in a manner that achieves program goals, meets established criteria, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide continuous oversight of program expenditures and develop guidance and tools to increase departmental ability to make proper budgetary formulations and planning decisions.
  • Assess the impact of revised budget execution policy and timetables, providing guidance to program management concerning status of funds and issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience performing duties related to budget formulation, justification, monitoring, coordination, and approval.
  • Experience preparing reports, analysis, and justifications related to funding matters.
