Medical Assistant Professional

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team.
This full-time position features a convenient Monday to Friday schedule from 12 PM to 8:30 PM, with no weekends or holidays required. As part of our team, you'll have the chance to train in various aspects of medical assisting and office responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize patient schedules and manage patient flow, accompanying individuals to exam and procedure rooms as needed.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, dressing, and specimen collection while preparing them for examinations.
- Collect patient histories, vital signs, and perform screenings per provider guidelines, relaying important instructions to patients and families.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations when sending and receiving patient medical records.
- Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control by cleaning between visits and following maintenance protocols.
- Manage inventory of supplies, restocking exam rooms, and completing necessary forms and requisitions for lab/x-ray reports and referrals.
- Perform clinical procedures, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs, while assisting physicians during procedures and documenting all patient information accurately.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of medical records, comply with OSHA and CLIA regulations, and administer medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
