SUMMARY: The role involves creating a dynamic elementary music program and fostering a classroom environment conducive to learning and personal development. The educator will build strong relationships with students, motivating them to acquire the skills, attitudes, and knowledge essential for a solid foundation in elementary education, tailored to each student's capabilities. Collaboration with parents and staff is also emphasized.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver the district-approved curriculum effectively.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and fundamental subjects as outlined by state laws and district regulations.
  • Design lesson plans and instructional materials, providing tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Transform lesson plans into age-appropriate learning experiences.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents through newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
  • Establish and uphold standards of student behavior to foster an effective learning environment.
  • Assess students' academic and social progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify student needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individualized education plans.
  • Be accessible to students and parents for educational support outside of regular instructional hours.
  • Coordinate the efforts of teacher aides, parents, and volunteers during classroom activities and field trips.
  • Facilitate individualized and small group instruction to cater to student needs.
  • Create an engaging learning environment through attractive displays, interest centers, and student work exhibits.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, community members, and vendors.
  • Adhere to a high standard of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:
  • Possess a valid Arizona teaching certificate.
  • Maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety manuals.
  • Proficient in writing correspondence and effectively communicating with others.
  • Competence in basic arithmetic operations using various units of measure.
  • Understanding of program administration principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with critical thinking and analysis techniques.
  • Awareness of best practices, trends, and emerging technologies in education.
  • Effective oral presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of supplies and equipment relevant to the role.
  • Experience with specialized equipment related to music education.
SKILLS:
  • Ability to apply reasoning to research and resolve moderately complex issues independently.
  • Skill in interpreting various forms of instructions.
  • Experience in conducting original research to develop teaching plans and materials.
  • Competence in maintaining and updating documentation.
  • Ability to organize and manage records, files, and program information.
  • Skill in gathering data, analyzing findings, and applying logical reasoning.
  • Proficiency in authoring and preparing original reports and presentations.
  • Ability to research industry trends and best practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficient in using computers and relevant software applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and the public.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this classification require physical activities such as stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions: The role is primarily performed in an indoor classroom setting.
