Position Overview:
We are pleased to present an opportunity for an Assistant General Counsel specializing in Supply Chain Management and Information Technology. This role is essential in delivering independent, proficient, and timely legal guidance to NYU Langone Health concerning Supply Chain Management (SCM) and the Medical Centers Information Technology Department (MCIT). The Assistant General Counsel will collaborate closely with the Associate General Counsel & Director overseeing Supply Chain, MCIT, and Pharmacy, managing the legal contracting processes and related activities for the NYU Langone Health System.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct legal assessments, provide advice, and draft contracts for SCM related to the procurement of goods and services, ensuring alignment with business objectives, policies, and regulatory standards.
  2. Review, advise, and draft software licenses, SAAS, and technology agreements for MCIT, ensuring compliance with business terms and regulatory requirements.
  3. Offer legal insights regarding the applicability of anti-kickback statutes and regulations in contractual matters.
  4. Exhibit a thorough understanding of the organization’s core values and integrate them into daily responsibilities.
  5. Provide legal counsel to various departments within the Health System on contract interpretation and related issues as needed.
  6. Review and modify policies, procedures, and training materials as necessary.
  7. Create and maintain templates, supporting the development of a library of contract provisions for service and goods procurement.
  8. Develop educational materials and conduct legal training sessions for designated clients and contracting personnel.
  9. Track daily assignments and update the contract management system, generating reports as required.
  10. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and case law affecting contracting in healthcare and biomedical research.
  11. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess admission to the NY Bar and have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in comprehensive business contracting, including expertise in system and software licensing and IT contracts. Experience within healthcare or academic medical settings is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of anti-kickback statutes and regulations in contracting. Strong oral and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, are essential.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range in compliance with New York state law regarding salary transparency in job advertisements. The salary range for this position is $213,000 to $252,000 annually. Actual salaries will be determined based on various factors, including experience, specialty, education, and institutional needs. The stated salary range does not encompass bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
