Job Summary

The Senior Power Systems Engineer is responsible for performing system studies on electrical distribution, generation, and transmission systems, reporting to the Engineering Manager and directing other engineers on a project-by-project basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct short circuit calculations, overcurrent coordination, load flow, and arc flash analyses for industrial, commercial, and energy clients.
  • Regularly communicate and meet with clients to ensure system studies are completed on time and to their specifications.
  • Perform simulations related to harmonics, transients, and stability.
  • Develop detailed and accurate customer reports with clear and concise conclusions and recommendations.
  • May conduct harmonic or load measurements at client facilities.
  • Minor travel, approximately 5-15%, to client sites to collect data, make measurements, label equipment, or discuss report conclusions and recommendations.
Requirements
  • Hold an EI or EIT Certification and be willing to obtain a PE license.
  • Have at least 6+ years of experience in power systems analysis and project management.
  • Have experience in industrial or utility distribution and transmission analysis, substation design, and working knowledge of electrical power system protection and control, and Arc Flash analysis.
  • Be proficient in using engineering analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, EDSA, Windmil, PSPICE, or similar applications.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
