Job Summary

The Medical Assistant supports the clinical team by completing clinical and administrative tasks related to patient care at the direction of the nurse (RN/LPN) or provider (MD/DO/NP/PA/Psych/Clinical Pharmacist).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports clinical team with patient care tasks, including rooming patients, obtaining vitals, and updating basic health information in electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Completes daily tasks, such as answering phones, completing prior authorizations, and handling medical records requests as requested by Leadership.
  • Administers injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal) as ordered and logs all medications administered in appropriate logs and trackers.
  • Prepares exam rooms for patient visits by sterilizing and cleaning surfaces, and restocking supplies.
  • Assists provider with procedures as indicated.
  • Documents all care provided and interactions with patients in the EHR.
  • Processes patient referrals for specialty care and follow-up, as needed, to ensure quality specialty care was provided.
  • Provides follow-up phone calls to clients or other professionals as needed.
  • Adheres to Equitas Health's Corporate Compliance Standards of Conduct and all related policies and procedures.
  • Participates in other agency meetings as requested by Leadership.
Requirements
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current certification in CPR/BLS.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • One year or greater experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Experience working in electronic health records required. Epic experience preferred.
  • Ability to work Saturdays.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have sensitivity to, interest in, and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, Gender Affirming Care, sexual practices, chemical dependency, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications required.
  • Reliable transportation, driver's license, and proof of auto insurance required.
What We Offer

Equitas Health offers a competitive salary range of $37,000-$46,200, as well as a quarterly Patient Access Incentive Bonus. We also offer opportunities for professional development and a positive work environment.
