Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Waste Connections. As a key member of our automotive maintenance technicians team, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance of equipment used by our company in the transportation and handling of vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Repair and Replacement: Evaluate equipment serviceability for repair or replacement efforts, align, fit, and assemble component parts, and install electrical and electronic parts and hardware.
  • Troubleshooting: Routinely inspect and troubleshoot machine centers for defects, read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical documents to determine methods and sequences of repair.
  • Testing and Verification: Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, and operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Training and Development: Train others to install, use, and maintain equipment, and perform repairs, including electrical and hydraulic systems, and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Safety and Compliance: Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment, maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards, and complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Strenuous physical work, to include heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling.
  • Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain and supply own personal tools needed to perform essential duties.
