Position Overview:
The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Lead is tasked with executing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair operations across various facilities, focusing on a diverse array of electronic systems, process controls, and safety mechanisms. This role serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), collaborating closely with the Operations & Maintenance Manager to uphold safe, effective, and efficient facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning Phase:
  • Work in tandem with engineering and construction teams to grasp project specifications, designs, and equipment requirements.
  • Supervise and guide I&C technicians in planning inspections, providing commissioning support, and troubleshooting instrumentation and fire & gas systems.
  • Deliver daily and weekly reports to the Commissioning Manager, addressing any issues that may impact project timelines.
  • Coordinate resources for site inspections, representing the I&C commissioning discipline.
  • Lead the I&C commissioning team during interactions with construction, overseeing contractor activities related to I&C completion and pre-commissioning.
  • Analyze and resolve work-related challenges to facilitate timely system completions.
  • Oversee vendor representatives and site operations during commissioning and startup phases.
  • Ensure proper documentation of commissioning and operational events.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of commissioning plans, including system walk-downs and equipment testing.
  • Identify and address commissioning issues in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Contribute to the creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various equipment and processes.

Transition to Operations:
  • Ensure a seamless transition from commissioning to operational status, facilitating handover of systems and documentation.
  • Work closely with the operations team to share insights and knowledge gained during commissioning.
  • Support the training of operations personnel to prepare them for daily operational tasks.
  • Assist in developing maintenance strategies and emergency response protocols.
  • Provide input for enhancing equipment performance and operational safety.

Operational Duties:
  • Monitor and operate equipment within defined operational parameters, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance as outlined by the work management system, providing detailed feedback on completed tasks.
  • Engage in troubleshooting equipment failures and participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
  • Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and repair systems for gas & oil treatment and water injection facilities, including large electric-driven compressors and other critical equipment.
  • Facilitate safe equipment maintenance operations and manage work permits.
  • Contribute to facility modifications and special projects.
  • Provide recommendations for improving standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with completion and commissioning activities.
  • Experience with work management systems such as SAP or Maximo.
  • Willingness to work a rotational schedule.
  • Ability to pass a fit-for-duty assessment.
