Job Overview

The Merchandise Handler is responsible for executing various distribution tasks that involve receiving, sorting, storing, and managing the flow of products within a warehouse setting.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Thursday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Compensation: $16.90 per hour plus an additional $.50 shift premium

Key Responsibilities (Additional duties may be assigned as needed).

1. Unloads products from delivery trucks, lifting boxes and verifying received goods against purchase orders or invoices.

2. Organizes and loads boxes and other containers for outgoing shipments; replenishes shelves with incoming goods.

3. Maintains accurate records of received or shipped goods to ensure smooth merchandise flow through the distribution center.

4. May operate powered equipment to transport products; utilizes hand tools, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.

5. Selects and picks products for shipment based on paper or computerized store order requests, ensuring inventory matches order numbers.

6. Prepares products for shipping using shrink wrap machines or other packaging devices.

7. The time spent on each task may vary as required.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.

· 0-1 years of experience, ideally in Distribution, Warehouse, Supply Chain, or a related field.

· Must be available to work overtime as necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing and walking for 8 or more hours daily, covering 5 to 10 miles.
  • Occasional lifting and lowering of items weighing up to 50-85 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting and lowering of items weighing 20-50 lbs.
  • Engaging in activities such as balancing, climbing stairs, crouching, hearing, bending, twisting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, grasping, repetitive motions, seeing, sitting, stooping, talking, typing, and visual acuity.

Work Environment: Typically operates in a distribution warehouse environment, with potential exposure to varying temperatures and both indoor and outdoor conditions.

Travel Requirements: Travel may vary in duration and frequency.
