Job Summary

The City of Gahanna, OH is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Police Officer. As a member of the Gahanna Division of Police, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a visible and professional police presence while conducting patrol activities in a specified geographical area.
  • Respond to emergency situations, take necessary actions to prevent crime, and apprehend suspects.
  • Maintain safety and assist citizens in a wide range of emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Enforce laws and regulations, utilizing the United States Constitution, the Ohio Revised Code, and Gahanna Codified Ordinances.
  • Initiate reports, affect arrests, process prisoners, conduct investigations, and coordinate police resources.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age at time of original appointment, not to exceed 40 years of age at time of original appointment (Gahanna Code).
  • United States citizen.
  • The location of an officer's residence must be such that if an officer is contacted and called back to duty in an emergency, the officer can report to the station, ready for duty, within sixty minutes of being contacted.
  • Visual acuity - both eyes must have corrected vision of 20/30.
  • Current and valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driver's abstract.
  • Ohio Police Officer Training Academy certificate or the ability to attend and successfully complete a residential police academy.
