Commercial Banking Officer

The Commercial Banking Officer is a key member of our team, responsible for driving business development efforts within assigned market areas. This role involves creating new or enhanced deposit relationships and maintaining a large portfolio of loan business.
Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Growth & Referrals- Identify and solicit high-quality new loan business and deposit relationships.
- Participate in community affairs to increase bank visibility and enhance business opportunities.
- Achieve individual and department sales goals through new business sales, referrals, and retention of account relationships.
- Cross-sell additional products through referrals and outbound calling to build rapport and life-long relationships with customers.
- Analyze potential commercial loan markets to develop prospects for loans.
- Stay up-to-date with financial markets, trends, and technology.
- Meet with clients, listen to their needs, and propose recommendations and service actions.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to excellence in sales and service to customers and other employees.
- Refer customer questions to the appropriate person.
- Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Stay informed about new types of loans, treasury management products, and other financial services and products.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans.
- Prepare reports for customers with delinquent accounts and forward irreconcilable accounts for collector action.
- Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine loan feasibility.
- Obtain and compile loan applicants' credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
- Ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policies, procedures, and standards.
- Approve loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval.
- Service loan portfolio to ensure compliance with loan policy, approval conditions, and approved financing plans.
- Correspond with or interview applicants or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Conduct on-site inspections at customer locations to determine customer products.
- Provide guidance to the credit department and/or less seasoned lenders in the development and analysis of financial background data for new or renewed loans.
- Develop strong professional relationships with members of the bank's other departments and external representatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in similar job duties.
