As a key member of our veterinary team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care: Assist licensed veterinarians in providing medical treatment to animals, including surgical procedures and medical examinations.
- Surgical Support: Prepare the clinic for surgery, provide support during surgery, and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Medication Administration: Calculate and administer anesthetic and pre-anesthetic medications as needed.
- Sample Collection: Collect and prepare blood, urine, and feces samples for testing.
- Animal Handling: Impound, quarantine, and restrain animals as required, and provide post-surgical and treatment information to animal owners.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care and treatment.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent, and a degree in veterinary technology or a related field.
- Experience: Six months of experience assisting a licensed veterinarian in providing medical treatment to animals, including surgical procedures and medical examinations.
- Licensure: Must be licensed and registered as a Registered Veterinary Technician by the California Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of animal behavior, anatomy, and physiology, as well as aseptic surgical techniques and animal care and husbandry.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit regularly, and perform strenuous physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Emotional Demands: Must be able to deal with an often times emotion-charged public and carry a fast-paced and changing workload.
- Competitive Salary: A competitive salary range of $22.00 to $32.50 per hour, depending on experience.
