Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our Family Advocacy Program, you will play a vital role in providing support and resources to victims of domestic abuse.
Responsibilities:- Provide 24/7 response to victims alleging domestic abuse, publishing and maintaining an emergency contact number via cell phone.
- Establish a Victim's Safety Plan on a case-by-case basis, partnering with the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager and Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist to ensure the victim's safety.
- Review the safety plan during each victim contact, developing safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments.
- Notify the FAO, law enforcement, and Command if imminent risk of serious harm or death is established.
- Refer involved children to the treatment or case manager for follow-on care.
- Immediately report any changes in the victim's circumstances that impact the safety plan.
- Assess risk factors, including victimization patterns, alleged offender threats, and prior police contact.
- Advise victims of their rights and options, including restricted or unrestricted reporting.
- Offer follow-up services to empower victims to advocate for themselves and their children.
- Collaborate with the FAP treatment/case manager to support the victim and promote safety.
- Establish a contact file for each victim, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to AF policy.
- Submit Victim Impact Statements as requested by the victim.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault.
- Ability to obtain the Basic Advocate credential with designation of Comprehensive Intervention Specialist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
The physical demands of this job include sitting, talking, and hearing, with occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
