The Superintendent plays a crucial role in managing all aspects of construction at the job site, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role demands a commitment to safety, requiring adherence to all company safety protocols and site-specific regulations. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Flexibility for occasional Saturday work and overtime is necessary, along with reliable transportation for travel to various job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze project plans and specifications, assessing construction methods and work sequences.
  • Foster a culture of safety on-site, ensuring compliance with safety practices and addressing hazards promptly.
  • Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks to promote safety awareness among all personnel.
  • Maintain comprehensive Daily Logs documenting site activities.
  • Develop and update 3-week lookahead schedules, collaborating with project management to communicate upcoming tasks.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for timely deliveries and manpower requirements.
  • Work closely with the Director of Field Operations, Foreman, and Project Manager to align manpower, equipment, and supplies.
  • Establish and uphold dimensional controls for the project, potentially involving third-party surveyors.
  • Supervise subcontractor workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Review shop drawings and field measurements to verify design requirements prior to material fabrication.
  • Procure necessary jobsite materials and supplies as authorized.
  • Ensure that any changes to the contract documents are properly authorized before implementation.
  • Engage with client representatives to discuss project status and address any inquiries.
  • Oversee field labor, providing input on personnel evaluations and recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in commercial construction.
  • Strong background and training in construction practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Spend approximately 80% of the time on an active construction site, navigating uneven terrain and varying weather conditions.
  • Occasionally move within the office environment for administrative tasks.
  • Utilize office equipment and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Lift or move materials weighing up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Work at heights and utilize safety equipment as required.
  • Engage in physical activities such as climbing, bending, and crawling as necessary.
