Job Description

The Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life plays a vital role in supporting the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Marshall University. This dynamic team member will provide professional service to MU students, clients of a MU Clinic, or other individuals in need of professional services provided by the office.

The Graduate Assistant reports to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and works collaboratively with other staff members to facilitate leadership development, involvement, and engagement among fraternity and sorority chapters on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and assist specific officers and attend meetings of one of the three governing councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) or Panhellenic Council (PHC)
  • Advise and assist with IFC and PHC formal and informal recruitment
  • Support fraternity and sorority chapter objectives, coaching individual chapter officers from designated chapters
  • Work with governing council officers on all-council collaborative programming efforts
  • Assist with office programs as needed, including Service projects, Order of Omega, Greek Awards, Alcohol & Social Responsibility training, Greek Week, and annual leadership retreats
