About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Repair and Maintenance: Perform timely and proper response to assigned service calls, work orders, and preventive maintenance tasks to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
  • General Maintenance and Repairs: Perform a variety of general maintenance building repairs, including door and door hardware repair, flooring repairs, ceiling tile installation, and drywall repairs.
  • Electrical and Plumbing Repairs: Perform maintenance electrical repairs, including replacing 110v outlet or switch, light bulbs, ballasts, and lighting fixtures. Perform maintenance plumbing repairs, including replacing or repairing sink, commode, faucet, trap, or flush meter.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform minor equipment repairs, including repairing hospital beds, wheelchairs, carts, and assembling or repairing modular furniture, desks, chairs, file cabinets, etc.
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Maintenance: Respond and remedy heating and cooling requests, adjust control devices as needed, and inspect, clean, and make minor repairs to room fan coil units, ACUs, fin tubes, ceiling diffusers, etc.
  • Fire Alarm and Pneumatic Tube System Maintenance: First response and system reset of fire alarm systems and pneumatic tube system, and repairing medical gas outlets.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, 3 years general experience, and 2+ years maintenance or construction experience in a healthcare, hotel, institutional, or manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge and understanding of general maintenance, basic carpentry, maintenance plumbing, door and door hardware repair, application of fire stop material, flooring repairs, ceiling tile installation, drywall repairs, bed repairs, basic electrical maintenance (switches, outlets, and light fixtures), snow removal.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and toxic substances, occasional exposure to temperature extremes, work around equipment and building components at voltages up to 220V with occasional 480V equipment, ability to climb, push, pull, bend, and reach, as needed to perform essential job activities.
