Job Summary:
Ampirical Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Team Lead to lead the design and procurement of protective relaying equipment for substations, switchyards, and development of detailed site physical drawings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems and substation design.

Key Responsibilities:
• Train, coach, supervise, and mentor Engineers.
• Identify proper protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations, based on standards and clients expectations.
• Select proper protection devices for equipment within a substation.
• Prepare scopes of work and estimates for evaluating and designing substations, both physical and protection and control.
• Identify proper equipment sizing and selection and prepare specifications.
• Prepare specification for labor erection.
• Ensure the maintenance and adherence of customer standards as it pertains to relay protection.
• Create drawing packages for substation relay protection that include wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, one-line, and three-line diagrams and substation physical drawings that include site plan, plan view sections, conduit and plan, grounding plan, and cable conduit schedules.
• Interface with clients and vendors.
• Perform load calculations for load panels, battery systems, voltage drop, and other various substation components.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university, emphasis on Power.
• 5+ years of experience with substations and co-ops.
• Management and training experience preferred.
• Fundamentals of Engineering Certification (preferred, not required).
• PE License (preferred, not required).
• Adherence to Rural Utilities Services (RUS) standards for physical substation design.
• Experience working in the electric utility industry.
• Detailed understanding of grounding/shielding analysis and concepts.
• Knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following skillsets:
• SCADA, automation, relay settings, RTU configuration, substation physical electrical design, and Protection & Controls engineering terms and concepts.

Ampirical Solutions offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package for all full-time employees. The salary range for this position is $110,000-$165,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications. We also offer semi-annual profit-sharing bonuses based on company profits to share in the mutual success.
