Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at the City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). As a key member of our Engineering Design and Construction (BEDC) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure.

The selected candidate will assist in managing assignments dealing with fabrication, welding, casting, and materials, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with approved specifications and industry standards. You will work closely with contractors, project managers, design engineers, and construction managers to ensure that all projects meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities will include reviewing and approving QA test procedures, conducting field condition surveys, and preparing accurate reports on physical observations. You will also participate in field investigations to develop alternative approaches and solutions to meet project objectives.

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in engineering technology and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:
  • Four-year high school diploma or equivalent and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as an engineering technician

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to two years of satisfactory experience
Preferred Skills:
  • Collaborative team approach and experience fostering a positive team environment
  • Ability to complete designated tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Welding work experience or exposure
  • Computer proficiency, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
