OU Health - 700 NE 13th is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Travel Sterile Processing Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Travel Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and reusable supply items. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and wrap instrument sets, ensuring proper use of sterilized sonic cleaners and other related equipment.
  • Coordinate and prepare necessary supplies and instruments for emergent and routine surgical cases.
  • Retrieve and deliver surgical instruments on a timely basis, inspecting instruments to ensure cleanliness and good working order prior to sterilization.
  • Decontaminate instruments using proper procedures, test, operate, and load autoclaves, and participate in the cleaning and decontamination of work surfaces.
  • Complete sterilization log sheets, remove items with expired sterilization or compromised packaging, and re-sterilize compromised instrument sets.
  • Notify of inventory or supply shortages, assist in training new staff, and prepare and maintain accurate Case Carts.
  • Pull needed supplies and instruments for cases, coordinate with operating room staff, maintain optimal levels of supplies and equipment, and practice inventory control via FIFO practice.
Requirements:
  • Six (6) months of related experience.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Knowledge of proper safety practices of steam and gas plasma sterilization.
  • Knowledge of simple record keeping principles and practices.
  • Skill in understanding and following verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Able to read, spell, and do simple math.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
