Position Summary:
The Point of Care Testing Coordinator (POCC) is tasked with providing comprehensive technical oversight for all Point of Care Testing (POCT) initiatives across the healthcare system. This role is pivotal in ensuring that quality improvement measures are effectively implemented, and all accreditation standards are strictly adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Education and Compliance: Conducts thorough quality assessments to ensure compliance with all regulatory mandates and institutional protocols, thereby maintaining the necessary licensure and accreditation for point of care testing.
- Performance Management: Establishes and oversees POC procedures throughout the entire testing process, from specimen collection to result reporting. Acts as a resource for POC testing, providing essential guidance and support to maintain high-quality standards.
- Quality Improvement Initiatives: Engages in the development of testing protocols and provides updates on regulatory changes as per CLIA and CAP standards. Responsible for updating procedures to align with accreditation requirements and conducting training for personnel involved in point of care testing.
- Support for Healthcare Providers: Collaborates with the Regional Manager and Medical Director to assess and recommend new testing instruments and methodologies. Participates in validation studies as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Specific Degree(s): Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
Licensure/Certifications:
Preferred:
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist, or relevant specialty certification (ASCP or AMT).
