Status: Hourly
Compensation Range: $19.00-$24.00
Role Summary: This role is dedicated to delivering educational experiences that foster the holistic development of preschool-aged children, focusing on their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The educator will have a solid understanding of early childhood development principles, set relevant goals, and work collaboratively with the teaching assistant to create a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement activities that cater to the developmental progress of each child, utilizing the prescribed curriculum.
- Ensure the classroom layout supports the developmental needs of all children.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment, both indoors and outdoors.
- Employ effective classroom management techniques.
- Plan and execute transitions within the classroom and facilitate outdoor learning activities.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Family Engagement:
- Facilitate smooth transitions from Early Head Start or other programs to Head Start and from Head Start to kindergarten or alternative settings.
- Collaborate with families, special education teams, and management to develop and implement individualized education plans for children.
- Maintain open lines of communication with families to support each child's success, sharing screening and assessment results as necessary.
- Consult with families and refer any concerns regarding children and families to the appropriate staff and partners.
Documentation Responsibilities:
- Gather all necessary permissions and documentation for each child.
- Keep individual portfolios for each child updated.
- Utilize agency software to accurately input data and generate reports for tracking and follow-up purposes.
- Evaluate the current developmental levels of children in relation to learning outcomes and standards.
Required Competencies:
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills.
- Understanding of challenges faced by individuals and families in low-income situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality for clients and the organization.

- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the organization's vision and values.
- Possess a general awareness of the roles and responsibilities of other positions within the program.

- Meet deadlines and perform routine tasks with minimal supervision.
- Maintain proficiency in the technology systems and software necessary for job performance.
Work Environment: This position primarily operates in a classroom and office setting, with occasional visits to family homes.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this role include regular travel in a personal vehicle, frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor, as well as occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time, part-year position with a typical workweek from Monday to Friday. Limited evening and weekend hours may be required based on job responsibilities.
Travel Requirements: Local travel is expected during business hours, with some potential for out-of-area and overnight travel.
Educational Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in early childhood education or elementary education with an early childhood endorsement is preferred. Other bachelor's degree concentrations may be considered if accompanied by relevant early childhood experience.
Additional Qualifications: A commitment to the goals and mission of the organization is essential, along with a clear record regarding child abuse or neglect.
