Responsibilities:
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and servicing designated areas or tasks within the hospital facilities under the direct supervision of a manager.
Hard Floor Maintenance:
Dusting and damp mopping, stripping and refinishing, spray buffing.
Carpet and Furniture Care:
Vacuuming, spot cleaning, shampooing.
Collect and dispose of waste, soiled linens, and recyclable materials.
Replace receptacle liners and recycling bins.
Surface Cleaning:
Dusting, damp wiping, and spot cleaning of vents, light fixtures, window sills, door surfaces, etc.
Restroom Sanitation:
Clean fixtures and restock restroom supplies.
Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas including stairwells, elevators, water fountains, walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and glass surfaces.
Change curtains, drapes, blinds, and shades as assigned.
Operate electric and battery-powered cleaning equipment and assist in rearranging furniture/equipment.
Gather necessary supplies, manage regulated medical waste, and respond to emergencies.
Wear protective gear as required.
Remove soiled linens/protective coverings, clean and remake beds, stretchers, exam tables, etc.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Entry Level
Language Proficiency:
Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
Requirements:
The ability to perform basic arithmetic and make comparisons between numbers and letters.
The ability to comprehend and respond to simple written or verbal instructions.
Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, inquiries, or requests for information.
The ability to interact courteously with patients and visitors when necessary.
Physical Demands:
Position requires frequent lifting and carrying of patients/objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasional lifting of objects weighing 11 to 20 pounds.
Regular stooping and bending are required.
The role necessitates reaching and grasping objects at various levels, including below shoulder height and occasionally above shoulder height.
Continuous pushing and pulling of non-motorized equipment (e.g., stretcher, food cart, mop) weighing over 50 lbs is required.
Frequent hand grasping and fine manipulation are essential.
Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens may occur, as the role may involve tasks that expose the incumbent to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
