Traffic Engineer

We are seeking a highly qualified Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical advice, guidance, and training on assigned engineering program areas.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct traffic engineering studies and prepare analyses, reports, and recommendations based on engineering determinations.
- Provide engineering support and consultation related to engineering program areas.
- Effectively manage assigned projects to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Communicate with internal staff, local government staff, consultants, and stakeholders regarding transportation projects and programs.
- Ability to design plans for traffic control devices, incorporating traffic engineering requirements into roadway plans and making recommendations for plan changes.
- Ability to conduct traffic engineering studies involving traffic operations, traffic control devices, and roadway and pedestrian safety and capacity issues.
- Ability to collect and analyze traffic-related data.
- Considerable experience gathering data, developing recommendations, and making presentations.
- Extensive knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, and standards.
- Experience writing and presenting technical reports/solutions to diverse audiences/stakeholders.
- Organizational and time management skills necessary to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Skill in the use of computers and web-based software applications, including Microsoft 365.
- Skilled in the use of traffic engineering software and CADD design software.
- A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or a related field is desired.
