Aviation Maintenance Team Leader

The Aviation Maintenance Team Leader is accountable to the Maintenance Operations Manager for overseeing organizational level maintenance on designated aircraft. This role involves directing, coordinating, and monitoring all maintenance and material actions necessary to ensure aircraft, materials, equipment, or components are in a serviceable condition while optimizing resource expenditure.

Key Responsibilities:

1) The Team Leader must possess a comprehensive understanding of the applicable technical publications and directives relevant to the specific aircraft types, including Special Inspections and Technical Directives necessary for flight operations.

2) This position requires a thorough comprehension of the protocols for releasing aircraft as safe for flight, monitoring maintenance documentation, and ensuring the accuracy of Aircraft Weight and Balance forms. The Team Leader will direct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions in alignment with operational requirements, brief aircrew prior to Functional Check Flights, and oversee documentation of aircraft performance during these flights.

3) It is essential to ensure that all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and company policies. The work environment must be maintained in an orderly fashion, adhering to all safety regulations.

4) The Team Leader will provide direct supervision and leadership for daily operations, ensuring personnel are effectively scheduled to meet work requirements and prevent unnecessary duplication of labor. Employees must follow proper procedures and practices in their duties.

5) Additional maintenance duties or supervisory functions may be assigned by senior management as necessary. The role involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and manual dexterity, and may require working in outdoor conditions.

6) The Team Leader will also be responsible for instructing and mentoring lower-level employees in effective work methods and job performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in a Naval Maintenance Control Chief or Leading Petty Officer role.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in aircraft maintenance and material support, with at least 10 years in direct maintenance repair, inspection, and modification, including 6 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience supervising personnel in daily flight operations supporting maintenance activities is essential.
  • Knowledge of technical directives and supply procedures is required, along with a working knowledge of applicable aircraft.
  • Proficiency in technical writing with clarity and accuracy is necessary.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
