Position Overview: The Quality Inspector will report directly to the Quality Manager and is responsible for ensuring that parts and processes adhere to operational work instructions and customer specifications, including technical drawings. This role is designated for the WEEKEND shift, operating Friday through Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, totaling 36 hours with an additional 4-hour bonus, resulting in a total of 40 hours, and includes a 25% shift differential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and authorize incoming materials and parts by verifying compliance with work instructions, drawings, and specifications, performing visual and measurement assessments, and rejecting any non-compliant materials or parts.
  • Inspect in-process and final production components by confirming adherence to work instructions and specifications, conducting visual and measurement evaluations, and documenting non-conforming items in the designated database.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing and data, such as the number of defective items and dimensional results, in accordance with Quality procedures.
  • Ensure measurement equipment remains functional by adhering to operating guidelines and calibration standards, and initiating repairs as necessary.
  • Complete DSQR training and obtain DSQR certification to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Utilize inspection tools and automated systems to conduct part evaluations.
  • Verify first pieces at the operation, approving parts for processing.
  • Communicate the condition of inspected parts both verbally and in writing.
  • Employ electronic databases for reporting non-conformances or accessing work instructions.
  • Perform administrative tasks consistent with departmental practices.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Execute other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED with a strong understanding of trigonometry.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing, including operational inspection or supporting quality inspection using handheld gauges.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply GD&T principles.
  • Experience with DSQR/DPRV is preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and instructions to understand quality expectations for parts or materials.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer and industry specifications.
