About the Role

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Facilities Planning and Management (FPM) team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in assessing existing electrical systems, providing scope for replacement and upgrade, and supporting design and implementation of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering analysis and design for assigned projects
  • Develop documentation in the form of drawings and specifications for bid and construction
  • Ensure project drawings and specifications comply with university standards and specifications and federal, state, and local requirements
  • Provide construction phase support, including review of submittals, documents interpretation, and field observation
  • Develop, monitor, and implement policies, processes, standards, and guidelines for various facility systems
  • Recommend best industry practices to improve unit processes and meet user needs
  • Serve as program manager for Facilities Management Services (FMS) related programs and individual projects
  • Provide leadership and direction on project operations and activities, including design, plan, schedule, and scope of services
  • Identify strategies to ensure delivery of quality services with available resources
  • Provide technical expertise and support to Facilities Management Services (FMS) on utility infrastructure, energy management, and environmental compliance
  • Interpret federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance
  • Oversee, initiate, and review feasibility studies to determine compatibility with existing infrastructures
  • Develop and recommend changes to design concepts as necessary
  • Inspect building systems, determine repair, replacement, or retrofit needs, and recommend equipment or systems to install
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design and operation, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Directly related education and project management experience with increasing leadership/management responsibility in electrical, mechanical, or plumbing systems and/or planning
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively
