What You Will Achieve
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: The Senior Planning Manager will provide technical direction throughout the region by acting as a Senior Project Manager and/or Project Director on significant projects, offering strategic insights on other active projects, and serving as a technical consultant to share innovative ideas for regional projects and initiatives.
You will foster innovation within the program and mentor team members, working collaboratively to generate process enhancements and novel technical strategies.
Client and Business Development Leadership: You will oversee CEQA, NEPA, and planning marketing and business development initiatives.
This includes nurturing new and existing client relationships, identifying opportunities to pursue, leading proposal and interview efforts, and targeting promising markets and sectors.
You will be supported by several senior practitioners experienced in client and business development.
People Leadership: The Senior Planning Manager will recruit, manage, and mentor both junior and senior planning staff.
Strong problem-solving skills are essential, including the ability to determine which issues require escalation and which can be resolved independently.
You will be adaptable and manage team workloads amidst shifting deadlines and client expectations.
As the leader of the Southern California planning team, you will have the authority to assign and recruit team members as necessary to expand the environmental planning service line.
This role prioritizes collaboration, the growth of the team, and the professional development of team members.
Qualifications for Success
- Bachelor's degree in environmental planning or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in environmental planning and project management, specifically in preparing CEQA documents and overseeing the planning process.
- Experience managing planning teams and collaborating with other environmental consulting disciplines.
- Proven experience leading client and business development efforts and proposals to secure new opportunities.
- Strong technical review capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Planning experience in Southern California.
