About the Position

The Consumer Loan Operations Manager will serve as the subject matter expert for all consumer and residential real estate loan booking and servicing utilizing the loan core system. This role will collaborate with various business units that interact with consumer loans or consumer loan-related functions, including research, lien perfection, reporting, and tracking processes, as well as resolving consumer loan issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage a team of consumer loan specialists, ensuring department objectives and staffing needs are met, and providing expertise to other departments as necessary.
  2. Perform loan account maintenance and servicing, balancing, and reporting processes, including proficiency in GL reconciliation and transactions.
  3. Assist in maintaining existing consumer credit products in the Credit Union's core system and lending operating system to ensure alignment.
  4. Ensure the accuracy of data maintenance, file maintenance, tickler maintenance, payoff calculations, required reporting, and compliance with operating procedures, policy, and regulations.
  5. Manage consumer HELOC real estate closings/transactions to ensure correct structure, loan documentation, and loan boarding into the core system.
  6. Participate in consumer and RE loan documents in multiple lending jurisdictions, lien filing, and titling, and vehicle and RE insurance, taxes, and escrow.
  7. Recognize product exceptions to all consumer loans and work to resolve.
  8. Create and/or amend loan servicing processes, procedures, policies, and systems with knowledge of all consumer-related regulations.
  9. Identify and implement cross-functional process improvement opportunities.
  10. Participate in the review and recommendations of operational systems and procedures.
  11. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning consumer loan servicing of real estate and non-real estate products.
  12. Prepare for and assist with coordinating internal/external audits pertaining to consumer credit products.
  13. Display integrity, self-awareness, courage, and respect for staff while ensuring learning agility and flexibility.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7-9 years of consumer loan real estate and non-real estate experience, including 1-3 years of management experience.
  • Experience with consumer loan and documentation procedures, policies, regulations, and laws, including knowledge of bankruptcy and consumer law.
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, and accept change and function in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Travel required on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or related field.
  • Prefer a minimum of 2-3 years of Credit Union credit experience.
  • Possess strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful and remain flexible.
  • Technical background and on-going maintenance of loan core system as well as a functional understanding of a loan origination system (LOS).
