Clinical Psychologist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Clinical Psychologist II, you will be responsible for providing psychological assessments and psychotherapy to patients who require and can benefit from these services. You will also provide input into the psychological factors and treatment needs of patients to treatment teams as assigned. Additionally, you will be involved in providing staff training and in the development of psychoeducational groups and classes on the unit and in the hospital at large as called on. The ideal candidate will possess superior clinical skills and be able to function as part of a collaborative team of specialized mental health professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and interpret psychological tests and conduct diagnostic assessments.
Prepare and review psychological evaluations and reports for completeness and accuracy.
Provide individual, group, and family therapies.
Oversees the design and implementation of special treatment programs.
Directs psychological activities and programs.
May develop, plan, and deliver training programs.
Designs and conducts program evaluation studies.
May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.
Requirements:
Knowledge of and skills in interviewing techniques with individuals and families and knowledge of current DSM diagnostic criteria.
Broad-based understanding of psychological/personality theory and mental disorders.
Knowledge of administration, scoring, and interpretation of a variety of psychological tests, including personality and intellectual instruments.
Ability to integrate data and theory into a sound understanding of psychological functioning of children/adolescents.
Ability to convey understanding of patients and other information to others through clear and organized oral reporting and through written reports/notes using clear, concise, organized, literate, and readable style.
Therapeutic skills in individual and group therapy with children/adolescents, behavior therapy, and preferably family therapy.
Thorough understanding of group process, ability to work with individuals and groups to consult on treatment team functioning.
Communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of principles of quality performance improvement and ethical standards.
