Position Summary:
The Meat Packaging Specialist at Uwajimaya is dedicated to providing superior customer service by preparing, wrapping, and presenting high-quality meat products to meet customer needs. This role involves understanding customer requests for meat preparation, demonstrating extensive product knowledge, ensuring accurate pricing and weight, and offering valuable cooking advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude.
  • Recognize and understand all types of meat available.
  • Wrap meat products uniformly in appropriate trays or containers, ensuring correct labeling and compliance with regulations.
  • Efficiently display meat products in an appealing manner, restocking as necessary based on sales.
  • Adhere to health department and company standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and maintain proper temperatures for product freshness and safety.
  • Stay updated on promotions and events to assist customers effectively.
  • Guide customers regarding product location, usage, benefits, recipes, and cooking methods.
  • Address customer complaints and manage special orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the meat preparation area, equipment, and display cases.
  • Check and replace any damaged or incorrect signage.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Food Handler's Card is necessary.
  • Previous retail experience and knowledge of meat products preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and familiarity with calculators and computers.
  • Flexible availability to accommodate various shifts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
