Job Summary:
The Senior VMware Infrastructure Specialist will be tasked with the design, implementation, and administration of our VMware virtualization framework. This role is vital in ensuring the dependability, efficiency, and scalability of our virtualized systems to support operational needs. The ideal candidate should possess a robust technical foundation in VMware technologies and a commitment to applying best practices in virtualization.

Salary Range: $68,000 - $73,000

Responsibilities and Duties:
The responsibilities of the VMware Infrastructure Specialist include:
  • Designing, deploying, and managing VMware vSphere infrastructure to support business applications.
  • Overseeing VM management and system performance monitoring.
  • Configuring High Availability (HA) and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) clusters.
  • Maintaining vCenter Server and executing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Providing technical support and facilitating knowledge transfer in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Creating virtual networks and managing storage migrations.
  • Conducting both test and live system migrations.

Qualifications and Skills:
The candidate must be willing to work remotely with one day on-site per week.
Education: Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Clearance: Secret
Certification:
  • IAT II or higher 8570/8140 Certification.
  • Must obtain VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) within 9 months of the start date.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years in IT, with 3-7 years focused on virtualization.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, and vSphere Client.
  • Familiarity with virtual networking concepts and technologies (e.g., VLANs, vSwitches).
  • Experience with VMware vSAN and software-defined storage solutions.
  • Architecture experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure software, services, products, and technologies, particularly in networking and security.
