Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Activities Director to join our team at CommuniCare Family of Companies. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a variety of activities and programs for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Activity Planning and Coordination: Plan, develop, and coordinate a diverse range of resident-centered activities, including recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs.
  • Resident Engagement: Involve residents in the planning process, oversee their participation, and advocate for their needs, preferences, interests, and rights.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Participate in meetings, including resident council meetings, family council meetings, department head meetings, and other committee meetings as required.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and reports related to activities, including participation rates, resident feedback, and program evaluations.
  • Fundraising and Community Outreach: Participate in fundraising events and promote positive relationships with individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community through outings and activities provided by volunteers.
  • Disciplinary Action: Identify need for and perform disciplinary action as required.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge and Experience: Must be knowledgeable of activity practices, standards of practice, state practice acts and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior management, supervisory, or leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation (preferred) or related field or 90-hr. course for activity professionals and continuing education.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to make independent decisions, deal tactfully with team members, other staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Must be able to plan, organize, and conduct a variety of activities, and be willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing activity practices.
  • Driver's License: May be required to possess an active state driver's license.
