Lead Application Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance for client engagements involving Independent Power Producers (IPP), developers, and integrators.
  • Create technical proposals for client projects, address technical RFPs, and collaborate with international teams to enhance US-based documentation knowledge.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on battery cells, modules, and DC blocks, addressing all technical inquiries from clients.
  • Manage technical account engagements throughout the pre- and post-sales phases, working closely with the sales team to ensure effective design, installation, and operational strategies are established and communicated for successful Energy Storage System (ESS) adoption and sustained business growth.
  • Provide valuable insights and feedback to Research and Development and Product Management teams regarding identified product and technical challenges, along with suggestions for enhancements.
  • Maintain close collaboration with sales and international technical teams to ensure seamless communication on critical technical and product-related matters, thereby ensuring high customer satisfaction levels.
  • Lead customer engagements regarding the application of ESS systems and collaborate with partners for balance of system equipment, software/EMS integration, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation to support the ESS product portfolio, including specifications, manuals, safety certifications, and technical diligence proposals.

Essential Requirements:

  • Collaborate with Sales Managers to deliver top-tier technical support to clients, facilitating account and project successes while ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Work closely with the sales team to prioritize account and project opportunities based on available technical resources, ensuring effective coordination and communication with clients.
  • Oversee and manage tasks within the technical pipeline to guarantee that all identified projects receive the necessary pre-sales design and technical support.
  • Engage with R&D teams based in China to ensure proactive involvement in test requirements, procedures, and plans, ensuring ESS products are well-prepared to secure business opportunities.
  • Collaborate extensively with Product Management on the development of technical tools and training, promoting adoption among the sales team, partners, and distributors.
  • Act as the primary contact for product management, providing input and feedback on significant product and technical issues and proposing solutions.
  • Manage the closed-loop process involving product management, customer support, and sales regarding all pre-sales related topics and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in ESS engineering, ideally with a battery Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), IPP, project developer, or integrator.
  • Expertise in ESS Battery Management Systems (BMS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS) integration, as well as ESS project implementation.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively with external partners and clients.
  • Excellent project management and documentation skills, with a keen attention to detail in execution.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally, nationally, and occasionally internationally.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English is preferred.
