Position Summary:

  • Veterinary Technician Assistants play a crucial role in the daily operations of our veterinary practice. Responsibilities include feeding, walking, and assisting veterinary staff with diagnostics and treatments for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive at work punctually.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of animals.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Be capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Exhibit emotional resilience when dealing with sensitive situations involving animal care.
  • Possess effective communication skills, as you will often be the first point of contact for pet owners.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization within the hospital, including:
    • Restocking supplies in designated areas.
    • Managing laundry tasks.
    • Cleaning and disinfecting cages, kennels, and common areas.
    • Disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Provide basic care for patients, including feeding, walking, and bathing.
  • Assist in safely restraining animals during examinations and procedures.
  • Support the veterinary team in obtaining diagnostic imaging.
  • Help with the admission and discharge processes for patients.
  • Participate in the aftercare of deceased animals.
  • Conduct in-house laboratory tests as needed.
  • Be prepared to administer emergency first aid to injured or ill animals.
  • Assist in collecting and submitting laboratory samples.
  • Attend mandatory departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training relevant to the position.
  • May be required to learn client liaison duties based on the assigned shift.
  • Answer phone calls professionally and courteously.

  • Accessible medical equipment and supplies.
  • Potentially noisy conditions.
  • Availability of protective equipment for handling anxious animals.
  • A dynamic emergency setting requiring adherence to high standards of care.
