Position Summary:

The Wellfield Technician will collaborate closely with senior operational personnel, plant operators, and project leaders to support ongoing landfill gas and biogas utilization initiatives. The ability to work autonomously, self-motivate, and communicate effectively with team members is essential for this role. ESI promotes continuous improvement and values employee input, thus the Technician will be expected to offer constructive feedback to Department Leadership regarding process and design enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance landfill gas extraction from the gas collection and containment system (GCCS) at biogas projects by optimizing well tuning, managing fluid levels, and adjusting field operations in response to weather variations.
  • Regularly gather wellfield data to ensure compliance with diverse regulatory standards.
  • Maintain current GCCS infrastructure and provide insights for future GCCS expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with landfill proprietors and operators to resolve operational challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement, demonstrating precision and thoroughness in all tasks.

Required Competencies:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license for the state of residence.
  • Experience in landfill operations, permitting, or environmental monitoring is advantageous; familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of landfill gas collection systems, flares, and monitoring instruments is beneficial.
  • Technologically proficient, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and navigate challenging terrains typical of active landfills.
  • A quick learner who thrives in a dynamic environment, employing creativity and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges.
  • Highly driven with the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously; strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
