We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and self-assured professional to become a part of the CPU Architecture and Performance Team; a collective that is at the forefront of exploring advanced designs for future iPhone, iPad, and Mac CPU architectures.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Address performance challenges related to branch prediction, data/code prefetching, cache structures, and other CPU domains.
  • Investigate the application of cutting-edge AI/ML methodologies and models to tackle these CPU performance issues.
  • Develop effective data analysis tools tailored for identifying performance bottlenecks, enabling you to sift through irrelevant data and concentrate on the core issues.
  • Engage in ongoing research across various CPU domains and offer insights to the Apple CPU design team regarding features to be incorporated in upcoming CPUs.
  • Share your analyses and findings with CPU architecture and design teams.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and influence the development roadmap for future Apple CPUs utilized in iPhone, iPad, and Mac systems.
Essential Qualifications:

Proven experience and understanding of CPU architecture and micro-architecture principles.
Specialization in one or more CPU focus areas (e.g., branch prediction, pre-fetching) is advantageous.
Familiarity with machine learning literature, model selection, tuning, and interpretability.

Capability to pinpoint performance bottlenecks in prevalent industry workloads, devise solutions, and implement those solutions within a performance simulator.

Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python.

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience. A PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a concentration on Computer Architecture or Machine Learning is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

At Apple, base salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a specified range.

This structure allows for growth as you advance in your role.

The base salary range for this position is between $175,800 and $312,200, with your specific salary contingent upon your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.

Additionally, employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
