About the Role

GEO Next Generation High School - Indianapolis is seeking a skilled High School Science Teacher to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in Secondary Biology based on state standards.
  2. Create an inviting, innovative, and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  3. Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments.
  4. Communicate regularly with parents.
  5. Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences.
  6. Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom.
  7. Attend all required staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours.
  8. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible.
  9. Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
  10. Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties.
Requirements
  1. A Bachelor's degree or higher or at least 24 credit hours in content area.
  2. Valid (State) Professional Educator of Initial Practitioner License for Grades 9-12; Emergency Permits & Substitute licenses cannot be accepted.
  3. Demonstrates strong writing skills.
  4. Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement.
  5. Demonstrated volunteer or community service.
  6. At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment.
