Job Overview

KIPP Indy Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher to lead Advanced Placement (AP) English Language Arts courses at our high school. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching writing and analytical reading, with the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing rigorous AP English lesson plans, utilizing strong pedagogical knowledge to effectively teach rhetorical analysis, argumentation, and synthesis writing. They will also be expected to regularly assess and track student performance, leveraging data to adjust instruction as needed.

We are looking for a teacher who is committed to the KIPP mission and community, with a passion for equity and a belief in the potential of all students. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of AP English curriculum and College Board standards, as well as experience teaching AP English courses.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement rigorous AP English lesson plans
  • Teach rhetorical analysis, argumentation, and synthesis writing
  • Assess and track student performance
  • Maintain a positive and focused learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with students and their families
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan instruction
  • Provide timely and actionable feedback to students
  • Scaffold instruction to meet the needs of all learners

Qualifications:

  • Valid Indiana teaching license or applying for reciprocity with a valid out-of-state license
  • Bachelor's degree in English or related field
  • Experience teaching AP English courses
  • Strong knowledge of AP English curriculum and College Board standards
  • Commitment to the KIPP mission and community
