Job Summary

The Instructional Paraprofessional position plays a vital role in shaping students' futures by providing individualized support, mentoring small groups, and assisting with instructional activities. This role requires a compassionate and dedicated individual who can work collaboratively with teachers and students to promote learning and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials and promote academic growth.
  • Monitors student work and supervises curriculum-based testing to ensure accurate assessment and progress tracking.
  • Provides tutoring and support to individual students or small groups, assisting with makeup work and ensuring students stay on track with their academic goals.
  • Assists in administering and scoring student assessments, providing valuable feedback to teachers and students.
  • Reviews material with students one-on-one or in small groups, adapting instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Ensures students follow school and class rules, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Implements the School-Wide Positive Behavior Support program, fostering a culture of kindness, empathy, and responsibility.
  • Prepares for lessons by gathering materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring a smooth and efficient learning experience.
  • Tracks attendance, corrects papers, and calculates grades, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Performs clerical work to document student grades and other paperwork, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
  • Enforces school-wide positive support program, disciplinary codes, and rewards, promoting a fair and consistent approach to student behavior.
  • Performs classroom maintenance and instructional duties as assigned, contributing to a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Assists in activities such as field trips, academic support sessions, and other events and programs, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
  • Supervises students in class, between classes, during lunch and recess, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborates with teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized education plans, promoting student growth and achievement.
  • Attends scheduled team and staff meetings, staying informed about program developments and best practices.
  • Participates in scheduled in-service days and training courses, enhancing professional skills and knowledge.
  • Adheres to all Woods Services policies and procedures, upholding the organization's commitment to excellence and student success.
  • Assists with the instruction of daily living skills in the students' homes or schools, as scheduled, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of instructional techniques to promote student independence, such as prompt hierarchies and escalation methods.
  • Uses technology, such as Microsoft Teams, to receive important updates and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with peers and management staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
