Job Title: Senior Real Estate Attorney

Public Storage is seeking a highly skilled Senior Real Estate Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our real estate team, you will be responsible for providing legal analysis, advice, and transaction leadership on various real estate matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and revising a wide range of legal documents, including real estate agreements, vendor and service provider contracts, and corporate authority documentation.
  • Coordinating real estate acquisition processes for storage facility and development deals, including negotiating purchase and sale agreements, performing due diligence activities, and overseeing the closing process.
  • Assisting with the company's development and redevelopment activities, including due diligence, document review and negotiation, and managing entitlement processes.
  • Negotiating third-party property management agreements and ancillary documentation.
  • Managing ongoing and non-crisis environmental matters affecting the company.
  • Assisting in-house clients in resolving disputes with adverse parties by analyzing the underlying facts, identifying resolution options, negotiating with adverse parties, and documenting resolution of the dispute.
  • Managing potential and actual takings of the company's property interests by public agencies.
Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school required.
  • 8-12 years of legal experience as a real estate attorney focused on acquisitions and dispositions, development and redevelopment, third-party property management, leasing, and general real estate due diligence.
  • Combination of both large law firm experience and in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Current member in good standing with a state Bar.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of the industry, the company's business model and objectives, coupled with practical, business-minded problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple requests.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness and commitment to clients.
  • Superior subject-matter expertise.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage internal and external support.
  • High-level of discretion, maturity, and ethical integrity.
  • Process-minded - respect for existing processes but always with an eye toward identifying efficiencies and refinements.
  • Ability to work and coordinate across business units with an eye toward the bigger picture.

  • Proven track record in team management and leadership.
  • Experience in fast-paced high-volume environment; work well under pressure.
  • Experience with national footprint, multiple jurisdictions, and large portfolio transactions highly desired.
What We Offer:
  • Base Pay Range: $200,000 - $225,000.
  • Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and location.
  • Base pay is one part of our total awards approach to compensation which is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses or incentives.
