We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transit Security Specialist to join our team at Community Transit. As a Transit Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our employees, customers, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol and Inspect Community Transit Property: Conduct regular patrols of Community Transit property, vehicles, and service areas to prevent and detect rule of conduct and policy violations, identify and address suspicious activity, and provide event security, crowd control, and vehicle flagging as requested.
- Respond to Incidents and Emergencies: Respond to all types of incidents and emergencies, both in-progress and not in-progress, and take appropriate action, possibly in a lead role. Liaise with responding law enforcement, first responders, and other Community Transit staff.
- Enforce Rules of Conduct and Policies: Enforce Community Transit's Rules of Conduct and other policies, issue warnings, re-seat requests, temporary denials of service, exclusions, parking warnings or impounds, and conduct fare enforcement activities.
- Manage Security Operations Center (SOC): Manage CCTV, access control, alarm monitoring, and security communication systems, monitor and assess activity, deploy resources, and coordinate cross-departmental activity.
- Collaborate with Transit Police Unit and Other Departments: Collaborate with the Transit Police Unit, Social Worker Program, and customer service positions across the agency to respond to, process, and debrief security incidents, foster continuous improvement, and employee emotional support.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent credential, 2 years of experience in security or law enforcement related work, including military experience.
- Certifications and Clearances: First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire, valid Washington State driver's license, ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including clearance for access to the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) and Washington State Fusion Center (WSFC).
- Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to make sound judgments and decisions in stressful or emergency situations, ability to calmly communicate with agitated individuals, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
