Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking applications for a postdoctoral researcher role within its esteemed Center for Neutrino Physics. This position is an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of particle physics, particularly focusing on the DarkSide experiment and the Global Argon Dark Matter Collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage in various aspects of the research process, including:

  • Design and assembly of the Time Projection Chamber (TPC)
  • Development of detector control systems and calibration methodologies
  • Analysis of data obtained from prototypes and simulations
  • Collaboration with leading scientists at major research facilities
  • Supervision and coordination of research activities involving graduate and undergraduate students
  • Initiation of new analysis projects within the DarkSide framework

This role will primarily be based in Virginia, with the expectation of extended collaborations at international research sites.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in experimental particle or nuclear physics. Essential skills include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Experience in low energy and low background experimental setups
  • Proficiency in evaluating and reporting research findings
  • Capability to present research outcomes effectively at professional gatherings

The applicant should have received their Ph.D. within the last four years, ensuring a minimum of one year of eligibility remains.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
