Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking applications for the role of Quantum Information Research Fellow within its esteemed Physics Department.

This position will primarily focus on advancing research in quantum computing, simulation methodologies, quantum networking, and control techniques. Additionally, there will be opportunities to validate theoretical findings using cloud-based quantum processors, enhancing practical understanding in the field.

Successful candidates will immerse themselves in a dynamic research atmosphere, collaborating with fellow researchers and leading experts in both experimental and theoretical domains globally. This role is part of a significant initiative aimed at achieving quantum advantages through collaborative research efforts. Opportunities for travel to conferences and collaborative projects will be available, fostering professional growth and knowledge dissemination through journal publications and presentations.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Quantum Information Science, Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, AMO Physics, or a closely related discipline. The Ph.D. should have been awarded within the last four years, ensuring at least one year of eligibility remains.
- A robust foundation in Quantum Mechanics coupled with proficient programming skills is essential.

Desirable Qualifications

Familiarity with concepts and methodologies in Quantum Information Science is preferred.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python and Mathematica is advantageous.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
