Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic 1-2 to join our team at the Department of Social and Health Services. As a Maintenance Mechanic 1-2, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to building maintenance, construction, and repair work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform statewide office moves, reconfigurations, repairs, and ergonomic adjustments
  • Read and interpret verbal descriptions, blueprints, cubicle floor plans, and CAD drawings to install and modify a wide variety of office furniture systems
  • Operate agency-owned and leased trucks, vans, and vehicles statewide as necessary
  • Operate forklifts, hand trucks, and other hand and power tools
  • Use inventory control systems to manage surplus property, ensuring accurate records are maintained for receiving, storing, and redistributing assets
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
Requirements
  • High school graduation and two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work
  • Technical skills: interest in building trades and mechanical aptitude
  • Physical strength: ability to lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment, including maneuvering items in tight spaces and up stairs
  • Problem-solving: strong troubleshooting skills and ability to ask for guidance when needed
  • Safety-focused: commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
  • Customer service: communicates clearly and kindly with team members and clients
  • Adaptability: able to work overtime, travel statewide, and handle out-of-town assignments with minimal notice
