About the Role

As a Patient Care Technician in our Critical Care department at Boston Medical Center, you will be a key member of the healthcare team. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN), you will provide direct clinical and support services to patients and their families.

  • Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families.
  • Provide clinical services such as obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care department, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification
  • Ability to pass clinical competency testing
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic math and computer proficiency
  • One of the following: One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting, currently enrolled in a nursing program, completed an approved Patient Care Technician training, or completed an approved certified medical assistant training
