We are seeking a highly skilled Central Service Technician II to join our team at the University of Iowa. This is a full-time position working on 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) at our new North Liberty Campus.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and supervise technical duties involving all aspects of sterile processing, including decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and storage of medical devices.
- Provide functional supervision to student and Central Services Technician I staff.
- Lead technical duties, assign tasks, and ensure accurate completion of shift duties.
- Participate in assessment and monitoring of staff competency, provide feedback, and support performance evaluations.
- Perform infection prevention processes to remove contaminants from surgical instruments and other medical items.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices.
- Assemble instrument trays according to patient/surgeon procedure specific cards and document missing items.
- Perform inventory management, monitor stock levels, and replenish supplies.
- Conduct biological monitoring of sterilizers and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, including waste reduction and process improvement.
- Verified experience with medical terminology and a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the International Association of Health Care Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).
- Two years of related experience in a medical field with a sterile processing component, or one year of experience in sterile processing and one year of functional supervision.
The University of Iowa offers a competitive salary range of $40,264.16 to $59,798.88, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
