Job Summary

The YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wellness Coordinator Part-Time to join our team. This role will be responsible for assisting with the leadership, management, and supervision of all health enhancement activities, including wellness center, health innovations, and group exercise programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay current with group exercise trends and suggest recommendations to enhance our programming.
  • Hire, train, and supervise assigned staff, including instructors, trainers, and volunteers, to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Review and evaluate staff performance, developing strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Create and implement a group exercise schedule monthly and update weekly to ensure a diverse range of activities.
  • Promote and highlight group exercise classes to encourage member engagement and participation.
  • Ensure group exercise instructors are current with their certifications and adhere to industry standards.
  • Act professionally and dress according to the requirements, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Ensure classes are safe and within industry guidelines, becoming familiar with participants and members to provide personalized support.
  • Attend and host regularly scheduled staff meetings to foster collaboration and open communication.
  • Direct all maintenance concerns to the Executive/Wellness/Program Director immediately.
  • Manage payroll for Wellness staff, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
  • Participate in YMCA-sponsored special events and activities when possible, promoting the organization's mission and values.
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements, including cleaning protocols, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Active participation in teaching, training, and coaching members to enhance their fitness journey.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizing and scheduling program registrations as needed.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, assessing the community for needs, opportunities, and threats to support the Wellness Department's growth.
  • Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives, ensuring the department's financial stability.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner, providing excellent customer service.
  • Compile program statistics, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Assist the Executive/Wellness/Program Director with additional duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • One year or more of experience in fitness.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements and meet the Association's policies on background screening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Refrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice, and dispensing or endorsing any commercial health products.
  • Must be a self-starter with high energy and a positive attitude.
  • Adhere to the drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policy.

Certifications and Training Requirements:

  • Appropriate fitness certification.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required.
  • Completion of YMCA's Blood Borne Pathogens training annually.
  • Completion of YMCA's Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Class annually.
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols.
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor.
