Job Title: Diagnostic Teacher Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Teacher Consultant to join our team at Barry Intermediate School District.

Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Teacher Consultant will be responsible for participating in and coordinating the evaluation process for students suspected of having an educational disability. This will include completion of evaluations, reports, scheduling and/or attending meetings, and consultation with appropriate individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Completion of diagnostic evaluations of children referred for Special Education, which may include tests, observations, data collection, and consultations.
  • File written reports and disseminate the same to appropriate staff and agencies.
  • Submission of all necessary information in a timely fashion to ISD administrative assistant for maintenance of Central Registry and Special Education Files on all children evaluated.
  • Preparation of evaluation information and appropriate recommendations.
  • Presentation of written report to committee.
  • Assist the teacher in planning for an individual instructional program through describing the learning potential and ways in which the child may achieve.
  • Re-evaluate all children in Special Education programs within required timelines.
  • Meet required timelines including, but not limited to reports, evaluations, IEP and MET requirements.
  • Consult with the student's parents and staff regarding the student which may include the child study process.
  • Collaborate with all members of the student's MET team.
  • Must use appropriate technology to complete aspects of the job including but not limited to the use of computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office); web and electronic based programs; email; and voicemail.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching certificate.
  • Meet the requirements established by the Michigan Department of Education for Approval as a Special Education Teacher.
  • Meet the requirements established by the Michigan Department of Education for Approval as a Teacher Consultant.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position within the BIEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to meet job requirements.

Other duties as assigned.

Adhere to Board Policies and Procedures.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with the provisions established by the Administration.
