The successful candidate will engage in various operational duties within the Sheriff's Office, including responsibilities related to jail management, court process service, and enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, along with other tasks assigned by supervisory personnel to ensure public safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute law enforcement duties as mandated by state laws and county regulations, including making arrests or issuing citations for violations.
  2. Conduct thorough investigations of complaints and incidents, documenting evidence and preparing reports accurately and promptly.
  3. Address and manage community concerns and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
  4. Share knowledge and skills with fellow officers to enhance overall departmental performance.
  5. Monitor and report any breaches of county or Sheriff's Office policies, conducting investigations as directed.
  6. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development through training and collaboration with experienced colleagues.
  7. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as per the scheduled shifts.
Additional Duties:

  1. Complete 40 hours of approved training annually.
  2. Occasionally manage significant amounts of cash and responsibly handle budgeted expenditures.
  3. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the public, inmates, and other personnel.
  4. Be prepared to work in various weather conditions and extended periods in a vehicle.
  5. Adapt to shift work and respond to emergency situations as required.
  6. Participate in physical training and wellness programs as assigned.
  7. Demonstrate sufficient visual and auditory capabilities to perform essential job functions.
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors.
  3. Exhibit good moral character and public trustworthiness.
  4. Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
  5. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  6. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of a second language is advantageous.
  7. Must successfully complete the employment application process, including physical and psychological evaluations.
  8. Pass a thorough background check and obtain state certification as a Full-Time Law Enforcement Officer.
Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift and carry up to 130 pounds occasionally.
  2. Regularly lift and carry up to 86 pounds.
  3. Consistently lift and carry up to 43 pounds.
  4. Capable of pushing and pulling forces of up to 107 pounds.
